Jesus is Alive in Me -- JAM
JAM is a non-denominational, community after school program for first through fifth grade students. JAM is held on Wednesday afternoons during the school year. The program includes snacks, music, art & stories. All children are welcome to attend!
Rotation Sunday School
Sunday School is held from 9:15 - 10:15 on Sunday mornings during the school year.
Preschoolers and Kindergarteners are welcome to join our "Little Lutherans" class. The children begin the morning with music time followed by Biblical lessons and activities in a traditional classroom setting.
First through fifth graders meet for music in the balcony of the sanctuary and then break up into small groups. Their curriculum is broken up into "rotations" which focus on a particular Bible story or concept and last from four to six weeks each. During the rotation, each week the students participate in a different kind of activity, such as cooking, science, games, or drama, to learn about the story for that rotation.
The 6th graders, or, "JD Sixers," meet on Sunday mornings for this program which helps them make the transition to the Affirmation program.
High School youth are invited to join the adults for "Living Faith," which meets in the Parish Hall.
"Living Faith" is our version of adult Sunday School. We combine food, friends, fellowship and faith for adults and high school youth. Living Faith is a great opportunity for the parents of Rotation Sunday School students to enjoy a Bible Study and coffee while their children are in Sunday School.
Living Faith meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30 in Room 102. Grab a cup of coffee and some refreshments and meet with Pastor Jon to learn more about the book of Romans.
Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO)
LYO is a team building, Bible study and mission group for high school youth. They meet on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.
Mission work in Gothenburg and beyond is the focus of the LYO program. Annuallythe youth travel with LYON (Lutheran Youth of Nebraska) to various cities for service projects. Every three years high school youth attend the National ELCA Youth Gathering
7th & 8th graders wishing to affirm their faith in God are invited to be members of the Affirmation class.
Affirmation is a two-year program instructed by the pastor. Students gather on Wednesday evenings for a meal and fellowship. Supper is prepared by the WELCA and served by parents. After eating, interactive class participation begins at 7:00 p.m. The "colaborate" Lutheran history and confirmation studies are used. The 8th grade Affirmation class will be confirmed on All Saints Day. Confirmation Sunday for 2016 will be November 1.
Day Camp/Vacation Bible School
Students who have finished Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to attend ALC's Day Camp. This four day program, usually held in early June, combines faith, fellowship, food and fun in a "camp-like" atmosphere. Preschoolers are invited to attend in the Vacation Bible School classroom during the mornings of Day Camp.
